Members T&Cs

1. Membership Eligibility

  • All members must be at least 18 years of age unless accompanied by a responsible adult and approved by the club committee.

  • Members must hold a valid membership with the National Council for Detectorists and Metal Detecting (NCDM).

  • Membership is subject to approval by the club committee and may be revoked at any time for breach of these terms.

2. Code of Conduct

  • Members must behave respectfully and responsibly at all times while representing the club, both in person and online.

  • Any form of aggressive, dishonest, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.

  • The club admins reserve the right to remove any member from the club or from a rally/dig immediately if these rules are breached, at their discretion and without refund.

  • Members must follow all rally rules and instructions provided by organizers or admins.

3. Rally Attendance

  • Attendance at club rallies is limited to current members only.

  • Members must not bring non-members to club events without prior approval.

  • Members must not detect on rally land outside of the approved event dates or times.

  • All finds made at rallies must be declared according to club and legal guidelines.

4. Legal Compliance

  • Members must comply with the Treasure Act 1996, the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), and all relevant UK laws.

  • Detecting is only permitted on land with full and current landowner permission, and only within designated areas.

  • Selling or removing significant archaeological finds without proper reporting is strictly prohibited.

5. Land & Environmental Respect

  • Always fill in holes, remove rubbish, and leave the land as you found it.

  • Damaging crops, disturbing livestock, or trespassing on unauthorized land is forbidden.

  • Members must follow the Countryside Code and uphold the reputation of the club.

6. Health & Safety

  • Members attend all events at their own risk.

  • Members are responsible for appropriate clothing, equipment, and basic first aid.

  • Any injuries, hazards, or dangerous finds must be reported to the rally lead or event organizer immediately.

7. Use of Finds & Media

  • The club may photograph or document significant finds for club records or promotion (with member credit).

  • Members must not share rally locations or landowner identities publicly or on social media.

  • Always get permission before photographing or posting images of other members or their finds.

8. Club Property & Communication

  • Any club-issued equipment must be returned in good condition upon leaving the club.

  • Members agree to receive communications about club updates, events, and important notices.

  • Member information is kept private and used solely for club operations.

9. Admin Authority & Termination of Membership

  • Club admins have the full authority to:

    • Remove members from any dig or rally immediately if rules are breached

    • Revoke club membership for serious or repeated breaches, without refund

  • Membership may also be terminated if a member:

    • Fails to maintain NCDM membership

    • Repeatedly behaves in a way that brings the club into disrepute

    • Fails to comply with the terms outlined in this agreement

  • Appeals may be submitted in writing to the club committee for consideration, but the decision of the admins is final.

By joining the club, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
